Mrs. Mixon, 72, of Brookhaven, MS, went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 21, 1950, in McComb, MS to Earl Columbus Lofton and Velba Humble Lofton. She was a faithful member of Sylvarena Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher, VBS volunteer and Wednesday night supper crew. Everybody especially loved her sausage balls. In her retirement she loved mowing grass. "Mamaw" cherished cooking candy and treats during the holidays with her granddaughters, Annabel and Abigail. She also enjoyed playing board games with her family during their regular gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Velba Lofton; brother Craig Lofton and his wife Theresa; brother-in-law Jerry Carter.
Survivors include her loving and caring husband Len Mixon of 36 years; her two sons in whom she was so very proud of, Chris Taylor (Laura) and Corey Taylor (Beth); granddaughters Annabel and Abigail Taylor, Gabrielle Aultman and Jacqueline Foreman; brother Kenny Lofton (Judy) and sister Barbara Mcklemurry; sisters-in-law Frankie Carter and Irene Reeves; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the church. The family would like give a special thanks to Deaconess Hospice and especially Robyn Stamps.
