Carol Ruth Clanton, 77, of Brookhaven, MS passed away on November 9, 2025. She was born in Texarkana, AR on December 13, 1947 to Herchel Lancaster and Emily Climo Lancaster.

She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven, MS. She taught at Brookhaven High School for 25 years in multiple subjects with her greatest impact and passion in Debate and Drama. Her passion for the arts and the dramatics was unmatched by directing many plays, musicals, and taking debate teams to national's multiple times. Mrs. Clanton loved and cared for everyone around her, students, and family alike. It always gave her such joy to cross paths with former students and hear where they are now. She loved having her sons and grandchildren for visits and asking "What's your favorite memory?" She never met a stranger and loved engaging in conversation with everyone she came across. Of all of her joys in life, her greatest was being Doug Clanton's wife and John Paul and Donald Edward's mother.

Mrs. Clanton was preceded in death by: Doug Clanton (Husband), Herchel Lancaster (Father), Emily Climo Lancaster (Mother), Bridgette Clanton (Daughter in Law), and Azariah Clanton (Grandson).

Survivors are her sons, John Clanton and Donald (Heather) Clanton.

Grandchildren Dajon (Gabby) Clanton, Taylor Clanton, Jazmine Clanton, Morgan (Allison) Stansell and McKenzie (Gabe) Stansell.

Great Grandchildren Josiah and Elyce Clanton, Taylior Kate and Cohen Stansell.

The family would like to offer a thank you for the visits, love, and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Go Fund Me Page set up in her honor for the future Carol Clanton Scholarship Program that will go to a Brookhaven High School Student each year.

A Celebration of Life Memorial visitation is scheduled for Saturday,  December 13, 2025 at Brookhaven Funeral Home from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.
