Mrs. Betty Jean McTaggart, 61 of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Friday, January 29, 2021, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 14, 1959, in Port Gibson, MS to Robert Elige Monk Sr. and Lillie May Haney Monk. She was a member of Christ Church International in Brookhaven, MS; worked for many years as a waitress; at Goldie's in Vicksburg, MS and enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Patricia Ann Furr and Barbara Gayle Croy; brother, Phillip Lee Monk; nephew, "Little Billy" (Billy Wayne Monk Jr.); and niece, Casey Renee Monk.

Survivors are her husband John Joseph McTaggart; daughter, Amanda Nicole Franklin; son, Aaron Cole McTaggart; brothers, Billy Wayne Monk, Sr.; Robert Elige Monk Jr. (Bob) and Charles Alvis Monk; sisters, Lillie Michele Monk Souder and Helen Marie Monk; grandchildren, Hannah Gabrielle Page and Andrew Connor McTaggart; Son in law, Jonathan David Franklin and daughter in law, Donnikka Chardonnay McTaggart, and a host of family and friends. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Misty, Alex, David and Shannon of Hospice Deaconess of Brookhaven for their great care. Also, to all the saints of my loving church family at Christ Church International, thank you for your love and prayers.

I, Amanda Franklin, would like to extend a special thanks to my cousin and his wife, Timothy Jack Furr and Marlena Brickey Furr for their self-less love and service during my Mom's last week of life. I couldn't have made it through such a difficult time without them. Also, My Mom's baby sister, Michele Monk Souder for being with Mom till the end. May God bless you all.
