She was born on January 29, 1945, in McCall Creek, MS, to Boyce Evans and Edna Mae Jones Evans. She worked for many years in clerical and retail positions at various locations. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, foster mother and friend.
Always a compassionate care-giver, Betty found a special ministry as a foster mother for dozens of children over the years. She provided a safe and loving home and made life better for many children who faced great challenges.
Betty was an excellent homemaker and spent her free time crafting. Family gatherings and holidays were a priority, especially Christmas. She brought joy to her family and friends with homemade snacks and handmade gifts. One of her special talents was cooking, and she maintained a vast cookbook collection where she gleaned recipes that delighted her family and friends.

But she also loved games that required lots of strategy like Phase 10 and Dominoes. Her combined loved of reading and competitive nature made her the reigning Scrabble champion of the family, and she defended her title at many family gatherings.
Betty was especially fond of little dogs and loved to spoil them. She leaves behind a sweet little chihuahua who will miss her dearly "Annie."
Preceding her in death were her father, Boyce Evans; husband, Arthur Joseph Rodriguez; daughter, Vicki Lynette Ward; step-daughter Tamitha Jean Ryder; step-grandson Joey Harrington; and brother Charles Albert Evans.
