Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Etheridge will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM with private graveside services to follow. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Etheridge, 93, of Meadville, Mississippi passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025. She was born in the Zion Hill Community in Amite County, Mississippi on November 7, 1931 to Walter and Evelyn Freeman.
She was a Christian and a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God. She worked as a nurse's assistant but also excelled as a homemaker; she loved to cook – with her specialty being homemade biscuits and tomato gravy. Later in life she loved reading and word puzzles, and spending time with her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Eugene Etheridge, Jr.; five brothers, Bobby, Walt, and Hollis Freeman, as well as two infant brothers; two sisters, Margie Lidberg and Ruby Freeman; and a daughter-in-law, Tanya Etheridge.
Survivors include her children, Thelma Delozier (Kenneth), Judy Adair (Forrest), Ronnie Etheridge, Kimble Etheridge, and Robin Etheridge; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey DeLozier (Joy), Chris DeLozier (Jeana), Correy DeLozier (Valerie), Tara Griesbach (Matthew), Ryan Adair (Vanna), Casey Gordon (Jason), Cody Hudson, Austin Etheridge (Madison), Hayden Etheridge, and Summer Etheridge; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; as well as a very special friend, Mrs. Bessie Jones.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Ginger Garcia, Bonnie Oglesby and the nursing staff of Franklin Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
The family has also requested in lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
