Obituary

Funeral services for Audrey Nell Walker Harrell will be held today, Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 11 AM at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven with burial in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dr. Frank O. Rice and Bro. Ryan Thurman will officiate the services.

Visitation will also be on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, from 10 AM until time of the service at 11 AM.

Mrs. Harrell, 88, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Sunday, January 24, 2017, at Silver Cross Nursing Home in Brookhaven, MS with her loving niece, Mary Nations Smith, by her side. She was born on January 24, 1928, in Lincoln County, MS, to Isaac Walker and Katie Jane Chandler Walker. She was a long and faithful member of Central Baptist Church of Brookhaven, where she was a member of WMU, Sally Pryor Circle, Young at Heart, and a choir member for many years. For over 35 years she taught Sunday School at Brook Manor Nursing Home. She worked for the city of Brookhaven Water Department as Bookkeeper and Office Manager for over 26 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter-in law, Loretta Harrell; sisters, Leona Walker Smith, Lavada Walker Jones, Beatrice Walker Smith, and Arcola Walker Taylor; and brothers, Walter Walker, Oliver Walker, Roy Lee Walker, and Henry Bert Walker.
Survivors are her son, Steven Harrell of Madison, MS; grandson, Chandler B. Harrell, also of Madison, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.

Pall Bearers are: Chandler B. Harrell, Bobby Walker Nations, Chad Williams, Ryan Smith, Brandon Gregory Case, Bill Vallotton, and Ritchie Jones. Honorary Pall Bearers: Lydia Grace Sunday School Class.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Silver Cross Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave; the doctor and nurses of Compassus for the love and comfort they ministered; special and caring friend, Florida Butler; and to her roommates and guardian angels Audrey Nell Watts and Joyce Ellison.
