Audrey Raye (Smith) Cupit died on January 31, 2026, at home. She was born on May 29, 1944, in Copiah County, Mississippi to Barney Smith and Mary Little Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Barney Smith, Jr. and baby James Herman Smith, and her sisters Elise Ruth Smith and Mary Loyce Berry.

Audrey is survived by Carl, her husband of over 58 years; her sons Chris (Teresa) of McLean, Virginia and Brett (Dottie) of Richmond, Texas; and her grandchildren, Maddie, Jack, Ginny, Joshua, Josie, and Colin.

She is also survived by her brother John M. Smith of Georgetown, Mississippi; sisters Nellie B. Smith of Jackson, Ann Crosby of Sontag, Mississippi, and Margaret Lee (Sidney) of Magee, Mississippi; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all those who offered up prayers for Audrey and to all those who provided food and support during this difficult time.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Bude from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6. Visitation will also be held at First Baptist Church of Bude on Saturday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment follows at Midway Cemetery in Meadville, Mississippi.

Pallbearers: Jack Cupit, Johnny Smith, Lee Berry III, Tony Pogue, Robert Cupit, and Caleb Cupit. Honorary pallbearers: Chris and Brett Cupit and John M. Smith.
