Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of loving wife, mother and grandmother, Annie L. Allen. Mrs. Allen passed away at the age of 83, on June 21, 2019, at Oxford Health and Rehab, in Oxford, MS. Annie Lou was born on November 25, 1935, in Big Creek, MS to James Wesley and Beulah Mae Long. On February 14, 1953, she married Solon Eugene Allen of Brookhaven, MS and together they raised a son, Donny Glen Allen of Brookhaven, MS.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 1:00 PM till time of memorial service. Rev. Jessie Givens will officiate the service and Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Annie was happiest when she was spending time with her family. This included extended and immediate alike. She loved her husband, son, daughter in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren, unconditionally and without fail. She was a huge fan of country and gospel music and truly thought that Vince Gill was the best of them all. She never turned down a hug and usually was the first to start the process of a hug. She enjoyed family reunions, good singing, and even better food. If she wasn't already baking, you would find her collecting recipes that pertained to baking. She will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Solon "Hody" Allen, her father Wesley Long, mother Beulah Long, her sister Dorothy Marie Dixon of Prentiss, MS, her sister Brenda Carol Hollingsworth and husband Wilbert Hollingsworth of Durant, MS, and her son Donny Glen Allen.

She is survived by her sister Frances Bishop of Saltillo, MS, her brother James Long of Saltillo, MS, her sister Addie Mae Hollie and husband John Hollie of Henderson, TX, her daughter in law Elaine Allen of Oxford, MS, her granddaughter Shanna Allen of Oxford, MS, her granddaughter Deanna Roberts and husband Robbie Roberts of McComb, MS, her grandson Joshua Allen of Oxford, MS and four great grandchildren, Mia Adams, Gracyn Roberts, Brody Barrett, and Maverick Roberts.
